Garuda Boot Camp @ Dr. MGR University Chennai
The Garuda Boot Camp was conducted during 2nd & 3rd November 2015 at Dr. MGR University, Chennai. A total of 40 participants including the Faculty and Students (postgraduates) from Dr. MGR University attended the Boot Camp.
The objective of the Boot Camp was to make Garuda more accessible, promote further usage of Garuda and facilitate applications enablement on the GARUDA Grid. Ms Sumathi Eswaran, HOD, Computer Science Department, MGR University, gave the welcome speech and explained the purpose of the boot camp.
During the sessions, various topics like HPC, Grid, Garuda overview and its Architecture, Grid security, IGCA, Access methods & Tools, Utility services, Application enablement on grid were presented by Mr Santhosh & Mr. Pavan Kumar of C-DAC KP, Bangalore.
On the 2nd Day, hands-on sessions were arranged in which the participants were asked to write serial & parallel programs and execute them on the resources of Garuda. Execution of Bioinformatics applications was demonstrated on the distributed resources of Garuda. Valuable feedback from each of the participants was collected which will be used for improvement of similar workshops in future. The workshop was concluded with final remarks from Dr. Cyril Raj, Additional Dean, Dr MGR University followed by vote of thanks.
